Dark Circles Under Eyes

Condition Overview

Dark circles are also known as a tear trough. This is a hollowing present between the lower eyelid and upper cheek which creates the appearance of eye bags or dark circles. This can make a person look more tired and older.

Prominent tear troughs often run in the family. They often worsen as we get older which is contributed to by several changes:

  1. Thinner and more elastic skin.
  2. Lack of mid face support due to a loss of facial volume.
  3. Changing shape and size of the eye socket.

FAQ

As with any cosmetic procedure, you should ensure you are being treated by a well qualified practitioner with experience of such treatments. The tear trough is an area that displays a good response to treatment with high levels of success.

A topical local anaesthetic cream may be applied to the area prior to treatment, ensuring the procedure is comfortable for you.

We have a range of treatments available to help treat dark circles:

  1. Skin peels – our eye peel uses a combination of L-Mandelic acid, Lactobionic acid and L-Lactic acid to offer an ultra gentle yet effective solution to treat these areas through enhanced cell turnover and regeneration.
  2. Dermal filler – Dermal filler can be used to restore volume to the mid face to improve the appearance of dark circles. Following on from this, dermal filler can also be carefully injected within the tear trough area to help improve this further.
