Fat Dissolving

Treatment Overview

Fat-dissolving injections, also known as lipolytic injections, are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to reduce localised fat deposits in specific areas of the body. These injections typically contain compounds that help break down and metabolise fat cells, leading to a gradual reduction in fat volume and improved body contouring.

At Wentworth Aesthetics we use Aqualyx which is formulated with Deoxycholic acid which is FDA approved for fat dissolving and a product called Lemon Bottle which is an all natural alturnative containing Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Lecithin and Bromelain.

FAQ

Fat dissolving injections contain deoxycholic acid (DCA), which are substances naturally found in the body and involved in the breakdown of dietary fats. When injected into targeted areas of excess fat, these compounds disrupt the fat cell membrane, causing the release of stored fat into the bloodstream. The fat is then metabolised and eliminated from the body through the lymphatic system and liver.

Fat dissolving injections can be used to target stubborn pockets of fat in areas such as the chin (double chin), jawline, abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, hips, and knees. These injections are most suitable for treating small to moderate volumes of localised fat that may be resistant to diet and exercise.

The number of fat dissolving injection sessions required varies depending on the individual’s anatomy, the size of the treatment area, and the desired outcome. Multiple treatment sessions may be recommended, typically spaced several weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.

Fat dissolving injections are generally well tolerated, with minimal side effects that typically resolve on their own within a few days to a week after treatment. Common side effects may include temporary swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, or discomfort at the injection site.

While fat-dissolving injections can reduce fat volume in treated areas, maintaining the results requires a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise. Adopting healthy habits can help prevent the accumulation of new fat deposits and optimise the long-term outcomes of treatment.

Fat reduction with lipolytic injections occurs gradually over several weeks to months following treatment. Patients may begin to notice a reduction in fat volume and improved body contouring within a few weeks after the initial session, with continued improvement over time as the body metabolises the released fat cells. This gradual approach to fat reduction often results in natural-looking, long-lasting results.
